Mobile Medical Systems
Mobile Medical Systems provides rural community hospitals with services that would be individually unaffordable. Our professionally certified staff of technologists, operate nine mobile coaches and one bone mineral densitometry truck, with eighteen full-time and nine part-time mobile employees. In addition to providing MRIs, PET and BMD scans, the mobile units are also equipped for oncology treatment planning. A satisfaction rate of 99 percent reflects the high level of convenience and care provided through mobile facilities.
Mobile PET
We provide high quality mobile Positron Emission Tomography (PET) services to OSF hospitals in Illinois. The PET unit is based in an 18-wheeler truck and visits all of the Illinois-based OSF hospitals in Galesburg, Bloomington, Pontiac, Peoria and Rockford. We also provide PET/CT services to non-OSF Hospitals in Spring Valley, Aledo, and Monticello, Illinois.
Our mobile PET scanner is touted by GE as the "best cancer diagnosis and treatment tool with the clearest, most defining resolution available detailing metabolic and functional change." The PET scanner can detect cancerous tumors as small as 5 millimeters, smaller than a pencil eraser. It can also detect heart muscle damage, epilepsy and adult dementia, among many other things.
The PET is a self-shielded unit, which allows us to do exams right next to the hospital.
Mobile MRI
We provide high quality Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) services to health care providers in the Midwest. Our state of the art equipment include General Electric 1.5 Tesla Magnets and self-shielded units (allows us to do exams right next to hospitals). We are capable of executing the latest MRI protocols. We own our trucks and employ drivers to ensure timely delivery of equipment.
Two MRI technologists are on each unit who provide all day service. They are encouraged to add on patients and stay until exams are complete no matter how late in the day the exam takes.
Exam volumes have increased at all of our sites and some accounts have recently added additional days of service.
How Do Our Services Benefit The Hospital?
Patients stay in the community for their MRI exam and subsequent medical services. Exam results are quickly available to referring physicians and their patients. The hospital experiences no capitol expenditure expenses for MRI equipment.
